FRANKINCENSE

Key Constituents: Alpha-Pinene (30-60%), Limonene (8-20%), Sabinene (1-8%), Myrcene (1-14%)…

Frankincense - boswellia serrata

“Frankincense, or olibanum, is obtained from the genus Boswellia, family Burseraceae tree. Its extracted resin, salai guggal, is produced predominantly by four species, including Boswellia serrata in India, Boswellia carterii in East Africa and China, Boswellia frereana in Somalia, and Boswellia sacra in Arabia.”

“Pharmacological studies found the resin of Boswellia to exhibit anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor activities.”

“Previous Phytochemical studies of Boswellia species showed that the gum resin of this species is rich in triterpenes…”

“The Pharmacological studies have found that the resin of Boswellia exhibit anti-inflammatory & anti-tumor activities.”

“In vitro assay, some of these compounds (10 μM) showed moderate hepatoprotective activities against d-galactosamine-induced HL-7702 cell damage.”

“…inhibit 5-lipoxygenase and prevent the release of leukotrienes, thus having an anti-inflammatory effect in ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, bronchitis and sinusitis.”

5-lipoxygenase: “…play a central role in regulating the interaction between innate and adaptive immunity” & “…is the major source of potent proinflammatory leukotrienes…”

“…Boswellia serrata (BS) in radiotherapy-related edema… significantly reduced cerebral edema measured by MRI in the study population.”

MYRRH (Commiphora myrrha)

Myrrh from Young Living

Key Constituents: Lindestrene (7-16%), Curzerene (9-32%), Furanoendesma-1,3-diene (25-50%)…

“apoptosis in human prostatic cancer PC-3 cells.”

“…the anticancer effects of myrrh were markedly increased compared with those of frankincense…”

“The Chinese herbs of myrrh and frankincense are often combined for treating some inflammatory pain diseases with synergistic therapeutic effects.”

“These findings indicate that C. myrrha considerably reduces the oxidative stress… that resemble fulminant hepatitis and could be of a potential clinical application.”

“…neuroprotective effects against MPP+ -induced neuronal cell death in SH-SY5Y cells.”
