Three Physical Therapy Short Leg Rehab Secrets You Should Know.
- Results may be temporary
- The short leg may not due to muscle imbalance
- Help is available elsewhere
Is the short leg structural?
Perhaps it’s functional.
If this remains unknown, it’s worth finding out.
CORRECT the CAUSE of the short leg or else it tends to stay short – typically forever.
Not a good long term scenario considering the inherent wear-and-tear stress caused by such an unleveling.
Consider the stress of walking with one shoe or sandal only.
Walk this way for the next 12 months or 5 years or, for some, a lifetime.
“HOW SHORT IS MY LEG?!”
Luckily, this can be visualized & measured with a standing x-ray.
When it’s there, it’s obvious, and referred to as a Structural Short Leg.
On the other hand, a Functional Short Leg responds incredibly well to physical therapy since the cause is muscle imbalance.
Since physical therapy does not magically help bones grow in length, physical therapy short leg rehabilitation only works for those accurately diagnosed as functional.
Luckily, help for a structural short leg is available here in our office.
In only 1 visit, we’ll identify the presence of this type of short leg and discuss your correction options.
Don’t continue hobbling with a short leg unnecessarily when help is just around the corner.
