1. Flexion, Extension & Hyperextension
2. Abdominal Crunches
3. Oblique Abdominal Crunches

CONTRAINDICATIONS - this literally means DON'T DO IT!
Obviously, ANY severe illness, sickness, disease, ailment, complaint, disorder, malady, affliction, indisposition, ill health, poor health, infirmity, infection, virus, bug or contagion.
More specifically, CONTRAINDICATIONS cont.:
-Spondylolysis, unstable spondylolisthesis, & spinal stenosis
-Cancer or blood disorders: when treatment or disease cause leucocytes below 0.5 x109/L, hemoglobin below 60g/L or platelets below 20 x 109/L
-Heart disease, unstable or acute heart failure, uncontrolled tachycardia, unstable angina
-Resting systolic blood pressure greater than 180 or diastolic less than 100
-Unstable COPD: oxygen saturation levels should be above 88-90%
-Uncontrolled Diabetes: blood glucose is greater than 13 mmol or less than 5.5 mmol/l
-Diabetic peripheral or autonomic neuropathy
-Unexplained breathlessness on exertion
-Uncontrolled or poorly controlled asthma
-Pregnancy as full flexion range of motion would compress the fetus
Purchasing a Roman Chair
1. Pelvic Pad Alignment: 45 Degree-Angle vs Horizontal
-45 degree-angled pads naturally reduce the risk of hyperextension (too much backward bending) compared to the horizontal pad alignment.
-Horizontal pads increase the risk of hyperextension, but also place less resting stress on the hamstrings and gluteals.
2. Adjustable Pelvic Pad: Adjustable up & down.
-The top of this pad must rest comfortably where your pelvic bones and belly meet at the crease.
-Smaller individuals may struggle to adjust this pad low enough for a safe practice.
-This pad should NEVER rest in the belly or lower ribs!
3. Leg Support
-Adjust for comfort and support when applicable.
-Designed to prevent the upper body from falling forward during practice.
-For safety, must not break or move during practice.
